Here's how to get your dog to listen
to you, anywhere you go.... even if he's distracted
by a tennis ball, A piece of food, another dog or the
baseball World Series on television!
Do you have at least one framed photo
of your dog somewhere in your house... or maybe in your
wallet? Is your dog pretty darn close to being the very
center of your universe? Do you love spoiling him, respond
to his every whimper and cry, and spend hundreds of
dollars on gourmet treats? Even if you don't then you
are going to absolutely love this.
My husband Don didn't want
me to write this. He begged me not to let his secret
out. He said it would ruin his reputation. You see,
Don thinks he's the world's greatest dog trainer. Whenever
people tell us how well behaved our dog Misty is, Don
likes to brag that it's all because of him. But Don
isn't a dog expert. Not even close. He's a retired plumber.
The Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg
(DTCSP) has been active in Dog Training for over forty-five
years. The purpose of the club is to share our knowledge
of dog training and provide help to the community in
training their dogs. We have experienced instructors,
some of whom are certified by the National Association
of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI). Many have over
15 years of experience. We offer help to people who
are having problems with their dogs.
At Tailwaggers, we are devoted to
teaching you and your dog how to live and work together
in a happy home. To do this, our instructors employ
the most up-to-date motivational methods. This boils
down to a lot of praise and treats. Harsh methods of
training, such as the use of shock collars, yelling,
and hitting are strictly prohibited.
Gold Coast Terrier Network was established
in 1989 when a core group of terrier enthusiasts became
aware of the need for a source of information and cohesion
in the Florida Jack Russell world. At that time there
were very few sound quality terriers in Florida. Breeders
were scarce, many uninformed. Organized events have
brought us together to learn about the Jack Russell,
improve the quality of our terriers, and provide a source
of information about Jack Russells to the public. We
are honored to be successful in preserving the working
body and spirit of the Jack Russell. Many of our terriers
go on to be successful in the hunt field and national
competitions.
