How
I Trained My Dog In One Evening |
| |
My husband Don didn't want
me to write this. He begged me not to let his secret
out. He said it would ruin his reputation. You see,
Don thinks he's the world's greatest dog trainer. Whenever
people tell us how well behaved our dog Misty is, Don
likes to brag that it's all because of him. But Don
isn't a dog expert. Not even close. He's a retired plumber. |

Ahimsa
Dog Training |
| |
Grisha Stewart, M.A., CPDT (pictured
above on the right with her girlfriend, Jill, and the
dogs who share their lives) is the owner of Ahimsa Dog
Training. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (as of
October 21, 2004) and an active member of the Association
of Pet Dog Trainers. She is certified in Pet First Aid
by the American Red Cross and an evaluator for the Canine
Good Citizen program. She also attends several training
and behavior seminars each year. In the past year, she
attended the national APDT conference in Orlando, Karen
Pryor's ClickerExpo in Philadelphia, seminars by Kathy
Sdao, and an aggression seminar by Brenda Aloff (who
used a little too much "himsa" but had some
great ideas). She enjoys volunteering at the Humane
Society for Seattle/King County. At the Humane Society,
she has trained numerous shelter dogs, assisted with
dog training classes, helped out with fundraisers like
Tuxes and Tails, and has been a foster parent. Her dogs
are both Canine Good Citizens and are recovering snark-aholics.
Peanut runs in agility and does much better at his job
than Grisha does at hers, but he keeps her as a partner,
anyway.

a new training program that focused on the use of positive
feedback to the dog for behavioral issues, socialization,
