Emily
Morgan Hotel |
| |
What to expect:
Historic Gothic Revival meets urban contemporary at
the Emily Morgan Hotel, where business travelers and
vacationers can stay in the center of the action. Pets
are also welcome. Adjacent to the famous Alamo, this
14-story hotel is a modern oasis surrounded by Texas
history. Polished stone floors and Texas limestone blends
with traditional mahogany furnishings and custom fabrics.
A see-through stone fireplace flanks a commanding central
staircase. Amenity highlights: Pots of bamboo
line the terrace, where a stainless-steel pool and spa
tub overlook the San Antonio skyline. The fitness center
offers free weights and cardio equipment, fresh towels,
purified water, and two TVs. A library with fireplace
adjoins the lobby. Insider tip: In February of
2000, workers in the Alamo discovered a series of frescoes
painted on one of the walls in the 1700s. Historians
believe that friars living in the mission taught the
Native Americans how to paint in a style that was used
in Mexico City in the 1500s. Visitors can view the frescoes.
Admission is free.
